The first time I saw Katie facilitate the Work in 1999, I experienced rage, and yet, I was riveted. I now understand that my resistance was the innocent and tenacious commitment to the story of being right. I have come to see a numinous sweetness on the other side of being right that can't be explained.

The Work is a true and reliable companion. Time and again, resistance melts into understanding as I shine the light of inquiry onto my thoughts. My thoughts are often hilarious and/or insane, always teachers and, when I have the grace to see it, dear friends too.

I am an attorney, mediator and Manager for a Labor and Employment Mediation Program in Seattle. I am also an adjunct professor and teach Negotiation at a local Masters in Public Administration Program and Alternative Dispute Resolution at a Law School, where I incorporate the Work into the curriculum. The Work is a paradigm shift from traditional mediation, as it suggests that only one person is needed to end a conflict, rather than a meeting of the minds. I am interested in using the Work in conflict resolution and leadership, the workplace, and education.

I am available to "mediate" using the Work with couples, families, friends, or co-workers on a sliding scale basis. Call or email if you would like to schedule a session.
