Thanks to The Work of Byron Katie, what was painful for me stopped being so. When I inquired about my painful thoughts using the four questions and the turnarounds, beliefs that only brought pain started disappearing from my mind. I did not notice this until suddenly I realized that there were no more thoughts about what others should do according to my expectations and beliefs; there were no more tears.

The turnarounds of The Work show me how to live, how to get out of the business of others, and that “the others” and I are God’s, Life’s, Reality’s business.

I love what is true and I am clear to act from my integrity, saying “no” when it is necessary. I trust Katie’s phrase: “no mistake” (in anything that happens).

In my marriage I realized that each argument turned into a reason to do The Work. Each turnaround brought me to a place of understanding that what I believed was true was not, to a place of self esteem, and to feel a love for my husband that surpassed my understanding.

I forgave those I thought had caused me pain for what they did NOT do. I could see that I caused pain to myself because of my attachment to beliefs that not only were not functional in my life, but were painful too. I recognized my part in what seemed like a drama to me; and I smile a lot now when I remember the person I was: a very confused woman.

In less than a year my mother and my husband of 38 years died, but there was no reason to suffer. Two of my dogs died that same year. Without a story, only peace and gratefulness remain. Nothing external needs to change, the change is internal.

Since 2001, I have been offering The Work privately, in groups and in workshops in Puerto Rico. I recently offered several workshops in Spain. I am a volunteer facilitator of Grupo Haciendo The Work para facilitar en espanol.
