The Work of Byron Katie is a simple yet profound process to discover truth.
My truth.
When I found The Work in 2014, I struggled with parenting challenges and had questions about church culture and relationships. My process was to deny stressful thoughts and replace them with positive affirmations. I looked for truth outside myself.
I was insecure, cautious, manipulative, and inauthentic.
I condemned myself with thoughts:
- I’m not spiritual enough
- I am a bad mom
- I want, I need, they should
I based my self-worth on how I thought others saw me, looking for signs…
- Am I worthy?
- Do they accept me?
I believed if people really knew me, they’d reject me and concluded something was inherently wrong with me. I didn’t’ trust myself.
In fact, I didn’t know myself.
With The Work I learned to identify stressful thoughts, write them down, ask four questions and turn them around. It’s a game changer for me, my relationships, and the way I move in the world.
As I question, I get in touch with my inner wisdom, my true nature.
Rather than deny stressful thoughts, I meet them with understanding. Thereby, I meet myself.
I’m kinder to myself and others. I’m more comfortable in my own skin.
I’m open minded, less reactive, and more accepting.
I smile more!
As a retired educator, former social worker and juvenile counselor, church organizer, wife, sister, and mother I am blessed to meet myself through service.
If you’d like to meet yourself; discover your own inner wisdom and true nature,
I would be honored to join you in the process of self-inquiry through The Work of Byron Katie.
Let’s explore together!
